EAST HANOVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. – A 51-year-old woman was killed in Pennsylvania Thursday after a car hit her as she was retrieving mail, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Jill Staub, of New Oxford, was at a mailbox near an intersection when she was killed at 3:49 p.m. local time.
The crash occurred when a 2016 Chevrolet was traveling westbound in the left lane. Police said the car struck a concrete barrier, then gradually entered the right lane until the vehicle was off the road entirely.
"(The car) continued moving forward along the right shoulder until it struck a row of mailboxes within the grassy area," police said in a release. "A female pedestrian was currently at the mailbox retrieving mail."
Staub landed on the right shoulder within the debris of the mailbox and the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle continued through the grass until it crashed into a utility pole, breaking it in half.
Brazil:She stuck her head out the bus window to wave to school friends. Seconds later, she was dead.

State police said they are investigating the crash as a DUI. However, no charges had been filed against the driver as of Wednesday morning.
